Supernatural, Supernatural RPF + J2 Crack Collection Now on AO3

In an effort to have a few 'Go To' spots to find Supernatural over at AO3 I've created 3 Collections open to any author to add to.
I love the BigBang Collection and thought it would be nice to have several overarching Collections for our fandom. Please feel free to add your fic to the mix and make it a great resource for all.


Supernatural Collection on AO3
This Collection is to bring together under one searchable Collection any and all fics based on the characters of Supernatural.
Whether it's Gen or Slash, serious or crack, PG to NC-17, whatever your flavour of creative: fic, art or videos, we welcome it all. They can have pairings like Sam and Dean, Sam and Jess, Dean and Lisa or they can just be friends. It can even be about Bobby's day at Singer Salvage, or Castiel reflecting on the bees, we welcome it all.


Supernatural RPF Collection on AO3
This is an open Collection for any Author/Artist to add their Supernatural Real Person Slash or Real Person Fiction, Art or Vid. Whatever the rating, (whether it be PG or NC-17), or the mix ( JDM/JA or J2, Misha/Richard or Chris/Danneel), whatever your flavour of creative is we welcome it all. We'd just like to have it all in one place to make it easier for readers to find their Supernatural RPF fix.


There is also a J2 Crack Collection on AO3
In support of the new j2_crack comm, this Collection was created to bring together all your favourite Crack creations be they fic, art or vid. So please add to our Collections whenever you think of it.

HOW TO ADD YOUR FIC (provided by the mighty awesome linvro21!)
This will allow you to do all your fic at once! Rather than one at a timing it like I did! : P
ON AO3 <- Go to 'My Works'
- Click 'Edit Works'-button
- Click the 'All'-button or check the works you want to add to the collection
- Scroll down
- Click the 'Edit'-button
- Scroll down
- At 'Add To Collections' type 'Supernatural' (NOTE you may have to scroll to find the right one)
- Choose 'Supernatural' from the list
- Click the 'Update All Works'-button
- Are you sure? Click the 'OK'-button

Repeat process for 'J2_crack' or 'Supernatural RPF'

For newbies like me a quick tip: Don't go adding all your works individually! Here's how...

- Go to 'My Works'

- Scroll down

- Scroll down
- At 'Add To Collections' type 'Supernatural'
- Choose 'Supernatural' from the list
- Click the 'Update All Works'-button
- Are you sure? Click the 'OK'-button

Repeat process for 'J2_crack'

I couldn't get the Supernatural collection to work. The Supernatural RPF came up as a choice but Supernatural alone does not. Others do, with variations, but I'm not sure which is which.

ETA: OK. I got it to work. When you type Supernatural RPF and scroll down ... then you get to see 'supernatural' on its own.

I added all my stories within the correct respective collection. Well, all the stories I've transferred to AO3 -- that process has been slow-going.

But I adore AO3 -- I probably wouldn't be able to read half the fic I read without it and its very useful e-reader downloads. So I'm trying to get everything there.

Thanks for setting up the collections. Now I can peruse to see what I've missed :)

These collections are only for fics? What about art and vids and podfics et al? The reason I ask is that all these formats are, of course, both valid and even often intertwined with fics.

Just for a few examples of what I'm suggesting, if bigbang stories are added to the collections, it hardly seems logical to exclude the artwork/vids that have been created for those stories. Also, in the case of reversebangs, the artwork inspired the fics; it seems intuitive that the art should be part of these collections as well. And podfic is the performance of fics; doesn't it make sense for those to be part of the collections as well?

Of course, I don't intend to force my views on you, but I am interested in what you think about expanding the collections to include all forms of fannish expression.

I guess I'm just not that familiar with AO3 archiving anything other than fic. If it has the capacity to store/display vid and artwork those would be perfectly welcome. I didn't realize they could... Do you already keep any of those medium on AO3? If they do I'll amend the Collection description to include art and vid in the description. That was one of the biggest things I love about LJ is the art, vid, and fic all being available.

Oh, definitely! Although the AO3 doesn't yet have the capacity to store the various media directly on their own servers, a huge amount of art etc. already exist there.

If you look at any of the BigBang Collections, you'll see entries for art as well as fic, just as an example. One of my own BB art entries is here.

Okay, profile and description is updated. Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't realize AO3 was multimedia capable. : )

Yes, the AO3 is working toward including more and more types of fanworks. I think I read even meta is supposed to start being allowed there soon.
