The previous night had been brutal, the third day in a row that the temperatures had plummeted mercilessly at sunset, and Jensen knew that many of their ranks would not have survived the night.

Reccer's notes: Alway a great writer keep_waking_up gifts us with a particularly lovely piece here. It starts with JDM, a bit at his wits end coping with his new and overly exuberant (as only Jared could be) werelion mate.

keep_waking_up spins this tale with a particularly deft hand and the tone is pitch perfect in its portray of kindly, and a little overwrought JDM. The shift to the Morgan sheeps POV was wonderfuly unexpected and brilliantly handled. She manages to easily capture all the enthusiasm and innocent charm of Jared the werelion as he struggles with a new language and culture, all the while imparting his absolute adoration of his mate. A charming, delightful story, beautifully crafted. You should go read.

So, I haven't been back to my delicious account since 2012 (no kidding) because they changed the layout and I REALLY hate big layout changes and blah blah blah. {Note to LJ: yes I have mostly been absent since you f*cked up the layout}

Anyhow, I knew I had some little jewels saved there and today

meus_venator convinced me that is was vital to the world of J2 fic that I work out what the hell my username and password were and riffle through it's contents. Oh, she wasn't wrong. It's a miracle I made it back out from all that yummy fic, so here is my first rec from it.

He’s pledging a frat and his Big Brother wants him to go get some old book from some dead doctor’s house up at the old TB ward off campus. Fine. No big. Jared’s down with that. Except then he meets the talking cat and things get completely out of hand.

Reccer's notes: Talking cat Jensen is always going to have me taking a look and this didn't disappoint. It is light hearted and funny, in keeping with it's

j2_everafter roots. The story jogs along nicely and the banter between the Js is just superb.

Technically, Harley found the lizard (which was actually a dragon!) and Jared took it home because it was hurt (even though his mama had said no more pets). It was okay though, because Jared didn't intend to keep it. In fact, it had to have escaped from one of the government zoos (and having it in the house was probably dangerous), so Jared planned on returning it (but the dragon had plans of his own).

Reccer's notes: I'd admired the artwork when this work was first posted in 2012, but never got around to reading the actual story. In revisiting the art to see cagey, coffee adicted dragon!Jensen reaching out for a mug of his favorite brew I knew I had to make the time to read. Totally adorarable story, made me cry in parts because of the sad conditions of the captured dragons, but the surprise ending fills your heart with joy and easily sweeps the tears away. A lovely story, perfectly illustrated.
